Public Health Research
What is Public Health research?
Public health research focuses on interventions to improve health and quality of life through prevention and treatment of disease and other physical and mental health conditions. These interventions are delivered outside of the NHS and aim to improve the population health and reduce health inequalities. Public health research involves multidisciplinary teams of public health workers and professionals. Research includes working across the NHS, local and national government, voluntary and community sectors to help transform public health. What methods should I use for public health research?
Public health research can be challenging due to the various teams of professionals and organisations involved in the decision making and implementation of new policies and interventions. Research methodology appropriate to public health practice include epidemiology, qualitative and quantitative methods, health care evaluation and health needs assessment.
